Full-Time Senior Postdoctoral Researcher (E14 100%) in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning

The position is foreseen for the duration of 2 years with a possibility of extension, tentatively starting from September 1, 2024. lamarr-institute.org/research/natural-language-processing/

You will be part of the international research group Data Science and Language Technologies of Prof. Dr. Lucie Flek, pursuing independent research as well as conducting research management activities as the Scientific Coordinator of the Natural Language Processing Area of the Lamarr AI Institute.

This exciting opportunity is a chance to work on scientific challenges of state-of-the-art LLMs. This position will involve close collaboration with the Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) and the OpenGPT-X initiative. The candidate will have a central role in a project aiming to advance the state-of-the-art in the robustness, interpretability and safety of LLMs. The appointment for this position is for 24 months.

Your profile
You are self-motivated, reliable, creative, can work independently, can discuss/write/present scientific results in English, and want to do excellent research on challenging scientific problems with practical relevance. You have a strong background in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning or Natural Language Processing, and a corresponding publication record in global AI/ML/NLP venues. Demonstrable excellent python programming skills, e.g. through previous projects, and knowledge of current neural network models and implementation tools for neural networks (e.g., PyTorch) are expected.

The position assumes you will be eligible for moving to Bonn or a nearby German location. It is currently not possible to provide remote employment opportunities that would allow you to work from another country.
