It provides acquaintance and interaction in an intellectually stimulating and informal atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. \nThe crypt@b-it is organized by UHH-Fachbereich Informatik-Security in Distributed Systems GI\, FG Krypto\, CASA (Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and the b-it (Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology). In cooperation with IACR. \nDescription \nThe one-week summer school crypt@b-it 2026 will explore some areas of cryptography. Invited Speakers are:– Sofía Celi\, Brave Research & University of Bristol\,– Orr Dunkelmann\, Computer Science Department of University of Haifa\, \nIn addition\, there will be tutorials and hands-on exercises on topics somewhat related to the lectures. \nTarget group \nThe intended audience are undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdocs and researchers who work in the area or at least have a basic knowledge. \nFee info \n220 EUR\, student \n900 EUR\, non-student \nA discount for members of the GI (https://gi.de/) is available. \nRegistration \nThe registration is open 1 May 2026 9:00 – 29 June 2026 12:00 (UTC+2). \nThe registration will be done via the webpage of the FG KRYPTO: \nThe number of places is restricted\, the registration fee for students and related is 200€ for members of the GI and 220€ for non-members\, for non-academic particpants the fee is 800€ for GI members and 900€ for non-members.  Please register in the correct slot: \n\nStudent or PhD student or academic\, member of the GI.\nStudent or PhD student or academic\, non-member.\nGeneral\, member of the GI.\nGeneral\, non-member.\n\nIf you intend to apply for a stipend\, register here on the respective waiting list and apply for a stipend.  DO NOT pay until the decision about the stipend is made. \nCancellation is possible until the end of the registration period. \nStipends\nFor students that require financial aid\, we provide a limited number of stipends which cover the crypt@b-it registration fee. To mark this milestone\, three professors who are strongly committed to advancing applied and translational research initiated a symposium reflecting the program’s core mission: educating the next generation of professionals for careers in industrial and translational research. What was originally planned as a one-time event exceeded all expectations\, leading to the decision to establish the symposium as an annual event. \nThe “AI in Life Sciences and Medicine” symposium deliberately differs from traditional formats. It is neither a purely academic conference nor a business-focused industry event. Instead\, its goal is to bring together researchers from academia and industry and to foster exchange across disciplines – particularly between life sciences\, medicine\, and computer science. This distinctive format has attracted an increasing number of internationally recognized speakers and participants in recent years. \nThis year’s symposium focuses on the following overarching themes: \nDay 1 – Making Data Ready for AIThe first day addresses a fundamental prerequisite for successful AI applications: data readiness. We will explore this topic from a holistic perspective\, covering technical\, legal\, and ethical dimensions. Our distinguished speakers include experts who are actively shaping AI-ready infrastructures within their organizations and who will present practical examples demonstrating how awareness of AI readiness can be translated into real-world implementation. \nDay 2 – Transformative AI Applications in BiomedicineThe second day highlights three transformative research areas at the frontier of biomedical AI: Foundation Models\, Causal Inference\, and Digital Twins. Leading experts in these fields will present recent advances and discuss how theoretical innovations can be translated into clinical decision-making and healthcare applications.
