Congratulations to Prof. Gerhard Lakemeyer, leader of the Knowledge-Based Systems Group at RWTH Aachen’s Chair of Information Systems and Databases, who was elected President of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI), for the period 2016-2018! Professor Lakemeyer is part of the the highly successful robotics cluster that has been established in and around b-it (Research area 7 of b-it Research School).
EurAI (formerly ECCAI) was established in July 1982 as a representative body for the European Artificial Intelligence community. Its aim is to promote the study, research and application of Artificial Intelligence in Europe, and has 29 national AI societies as its members. Among other activities, EurAI runs the European Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI) and Multi-Agent Systems (EUMAS) as well as educational courses, and offers several awards and grants to the AI community.
