Application

The B-IT master program in Autonomous Systems is distinguished by its international orientation, its focus on IT competence and strong integration of teaching and research. Language of instruction is English. The program includes an accompanying internship in the participating Fraunhofer Institute for Autonomous Systems. The master course contents is structured according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). After completion of the program, students will receive an internationally recognized academic degree of Master of Science in Autonomous Systems. This degree entitles postgraduates to enter a doctorate program.

Application deadlines

Students can start their program in both terms, i.e. winter and summer term. Along with the application for admission a proof of a professional academic degree must be submitted. Those candidates owning an academic degree in a field other than computer science have to submit additional documents containing the topics and results of their finished course work.

Applications must be submitted no later than June 1 (to begin the program in the winter term) or December 1 (to begin the program in the summer term) of each year. Please apply early enough such that you have enough time to get a Visa to Germany, if necessary (takes at least 4 weeks after you get the formal application approvement). Internship

In fulfillment of the research and development part of the Master's program all students are obliged to apply for an internship at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS), which is carried out in parallel to the course work. This internship is a prerequisite for the enrolment to the Master's program. Applications for the internship should contain the CV, a statement of purpose and the usual application documents as well as an indication of the areas of expertise and/or interest. The application for internship must be attached to the regular application for the master program and will be forwarded to the Fraunhofer Institute for Autonomous Intelligent Systems.

Requirements for Admission

The program is open for german and foreign students. For the admission to the program 'Master of Science in Autonomous Systems', a professional academic degree (Bachelor or equivalent) is required in the areas of computer science, mathematics, natural sciences or civil engineering. Candidates who graduated in economic sciences are also eligible for application if their qualification shows a sufficient overlap to computer science. In this case admission will be decided depending on individual qualifications. For these candidates it may become necessary to participate in some additional preparatory computer science courses with an amount of at most 30 ECTS points. All candidates must document their proficiency in English (a TOEFL-score of 557 paper based or of 220 computer based, respectively, or equivalent is required).
