B-IT wil host "Informatiktage 2012". "Informatiktage" are organised by Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V and will be held on 23 and 24 March 2012 at B-IT. This gathering focuses on workshops and keynote lectures, addressing excellent graduate and doctoral students in computer science. All lectures will be held and all courses will be taught in German.

The B-IT-endowed Chair for Media Computing, headed by Professor Jan Borchers, has attracted 180,000 Euros of new third-party funding for the group in December. The project MACS, in collaboration with Vestfold University in Norway and funded by the Norwegian Research Council, builds on the Media Computing Group's research in using tangible widgets on interactive tabletops, and aims to create the control bridge of future large maritime vessels. The funding will support, among other things, a three-year PhD student position in the Media Computing Group to work on this project.

Professor Kaisa Nyberg from Aalto University, Finland, is one of the leading experts in mobile security. She will present a lecture and lead a discussion group in B-IT, in the framework of the B-IT Research School. The lecture is open to a wide audience.
